Who am I? Rather than finding our identity in our own accomplishments, and rather than letting other people pronounce who we are, we are better off saying, "I am who God says I am". There is nothing more real than that!
As mentioned in the sermon Sunday, here are some of the things that God says I am:
I am a child of God [John 1:12].
I am no longer slave to sin [Romans 6:6; Galatians 4:7]
I am set free [Galatians 5:17]
I am not condemned [Romans 8:1]
I am justified and redeemed [Romans 3:24]
I am the righteousness of God in Christ [2 Corinthians 5:21]
I am a fellow heir with Christ [Romans 8:17]
I am accepted by Christ [Romans 15:7]
I am a friend of Christ [John 15:15]
I am a branch of the True Vine, a conduit of the Life of Christ [John 15:1,5]
I am a New Creation [ 2 Corinthians 5:17]
I am the Temple of The Holy Spirit [1 Corinthians 6:19]
I am one with all who are in Christ [Galatians 3:28]
I am blessed with every spiritual blessing [Ephesians 1:3]
I am an Ambassador of Christ [2 Corinthians 5:20]
I am a Royal Priest [1 Peter 2:9]
There's more. But maybe this short list is enough to bring us to our knees in gratefulness, enough to bring us to lift up His Name in praise and adoration, enough to convince us of His goodness and love for us, enough to bring us to start living like true citizens of The Kingdom, enough to make this a part of our everyday conversation.
Put this list up on your mirror where you will see it every day. Then go out into the world as fearless and joyful children of The King!
