Tammany Oaks Family, it's another week of coping with the ever-changing landscape that is the COVID-19 Pandemic. Am I the only one that feels somewhat like a Yo-Yo, mask - no mask - mask, shelter in place - go out but stay socially distant - shelter in place? Hopefully, we can find solace in the one constant that doesn't change, Our GOD, His SON, and His CHURCH!
Wasn't it ENCOURAGING to hear from "The Smith Brothers" (in Christ), Norman and Mike, as they got us off to a GREAT start with their thoughts and prayers this Sunday.
Follow that with an ENLIGHTENING and EDIFYING sermon from Brother David Callahan. What a novel concept, that SCIENCE supports rather than disputes the BIBLE! Until this Sunday, did any of us have any IDEA that our SOUL carried any weight at all, much less that it weighs 21 grams?
For those of you like me that don’t think in the Metric system, here are some equivalences.
· 21 grams = .0463 pounds or a little more than >1/21st of a pound or better yet ¾ ounce (¾ oz is a good weight for a deep water trolling jig head)
· In kitchen lingo 21 grams is the weight of 4.2 teaspoons of water or .67 tablespoons of water.
· I think Benecio Del Toro was in a movie named after the experiment “21 Grams”
It just goes to show you that you are never too old, or too wise, to LEARN something new at church.
The spiritual elements that Brother David shared with us that make up our soul can also be depicted as the Agape Diagram/Circle that contains the Love of GOD, Love of FAMILY, Love of ENEMIES, Love of NEIGHBOR, Love of BRETHREN, and Love of SELF. Did you like his vivid sports analogy to Satan being a sumo wrestler in our minds trying to push our thoughts out of the circle of spiritual elements? Do you feel that weight pressing against you each day?
Let’s all HOLD our ground and ENCOURAGE each other to do the same. Amen!
I almost forgot, I was wearing my blood donor T-shirt to remind me to tell you that giving blood is a great way for us to show our love for our neighbors. Blood is still desperately needed at this time due to COVID-19 and the ongoing shortages of whole blood. I still forgot to mention it, thank goodness for second chances!
